Sentence: Lesson 2

Written by Kiswahili

Let’s make sentences 2

yesterday we talked about two “markers” => “Nina” and “ku”…

Today I want to talk one exception you should note on using “ku” to your verbs ;

FIRST, let’s recall the pattern by using these verbs (penda, furahia, ishi )

penda = like/love

    #kupenda = to like/love

furahia = enjoy

    #kufurahia = to enjoy

ishi = live

  #kuishi = to live

 kufurahia kumpenda mtu au kitu mahali kokote , wakati wowote ni kuishi

 /

 to enjoy to love somebody or something anytime, anywhere is #to_live

#EXCEPTIONS of adding “ku” to verbs ;

When an associated verb start with “ku”, don’t prefix it with this “ku” things to use it in your sentences, just leave the verb unchanged, you will be understood and sound native.

Let’s see through examples of Swahili verbs that start with “ku”…

  1. kunywa = drink

  2. kula = eat

=>.   I like to drink coffee = ninapenda kunywa kahawa

=>.  I like to eat fish = ninapenda kula samaki

#EXERCISE

In this format, transform the following verbs ;

 Eg. cheza (play) => kucheza (to play)

1. lima (dig) => ………. (to dig)

2. Imba (sing) => ……. (to sing )

3. Pona (heal) => …… (to heal )

4. Kunya (defecate) => … (to defecate )

You can make sentences with these, I will pass through them on comment section.

Tafadhali, usiunde sentesi kwa kutumia neno “kunya”  maana  ninakula,

Please, don’t make a sentence by using word “kunya” unless you are sure you are doing it.

Asanteni🙏
