Swahili Names

Written by Kiswahili

Before Swahili took roots in Tanzania, almost all the locals used to use colonizer’s name according to their religions and their tribes’ names.

Tanzanian Christians took  names from European colonizers and Tanzanian Muslims took the names from Arabs.

But after Swahili started to  take roots in almost every area of Tanzanian, some Tanzanian Christians and Muslims  started to form their names direct from a developing Swahili language.
